We are looking for several research assistants (Ph.D./PostDoc) for bioinformatics research and teaching at the Chair of Bioinformatics, Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Statistics.

Successful candidates can work towards doctorates and habilitations in all areas of bioinformatics and can participate in research projects of the institute. Our research focus is on the development of new innovative and practically applicable algorithmic methods for relevant bioinformatics problem. Our methods comprise efficient algorithms and data structures, data and text mining, approximation and optimization, machine learning, big data, data science, artificial intelligence and DNA computing.

Qualifications

Completed university degree in bioinformatics. Related fields of study (computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, biology/biochemistry) might also qualify.
Staff scientists support teaching in the bachelor and master programmes in bioinformatics, which are offered jointly by LMU and TU Munich.
We expect enthusiasm for teaching and the best methods to solve problems in bioinformatics.
Enthusiasm for teaching means active participation in the various courses of the chair: basic and master lectures in bioinformatics, bioinformatics (programming) practical courses in the 1-3rd, 5th and 7th semester.
Enthusiasm for the best methods means high self-motivation to publish new methods.
